Postponement received before the 1st of October before the year of your hunt can be transferred to a mutually agreed alternative date free of charge. After the 1st of October, postponements can be made upon receipt of the full value of the booked hunt. Postponements or cancellations within 90 days of the hunt will result in a trip loss if the hunter cannot find another to take their place. We recommend hunting trip insurance in this case.
Any additional animals harvested during this trip are payable upon the conclusion of your High Peak hunt before departure from the lodge. Deposits and payments can be made via credit card, cash, or international transfer (bank wire).
Bookings are recorded on the Outfitters Hunt Calendar. Once trips are paid, we will send you a form that will request details of the hunter’s name, address, and contact, the hunt dates (start, duration, and final hunt dates plus details of any additional travel arranged through the outfitter), trophies desired, costing and individual requirements/requests. Please notify your bank that you are traveling to New Zealand before departure from your home country. The Outfitter reserves the right to alter or amend itineraries to accommodate circumstances beyond our control.
Your trip includes return transfers from Christchurch and quality private hunting accommodation at the Outfitter’s Lodge. It includes a cooked or continental breakfast, hunter’s field lunch, all beverages, and a three-course evening meal cooked by our private chef. Cabin daily rates include hunters’ accommodation and meals on the same basis but at a more rustic, simpler level prepared by your guide.
This trip includes rifle rental, ammunition, and equipment, should clients not wish to bring their own. Based on their assessment, the guide will make Trophy fees clear to the client before harvesting the trophy, and the harvest is undertaken only with the client’s agreement. Clients are not responsible if the guide visually underscores a red stag.
Non-hunters are welcome and encouraged to join the hunters on their hunt. Non-hunting guiding daily rates are offered based on one guide and a five-seat vehicle for the day. Some activities outside the daily guiding rate scope will incur an extra charge.
All Outfitters ‘ hunts allow a professional photographer/videographer to capture your hunt, available upon request.
All hunts have a generous time allowance based on the type of trophy desired and the nature of the hunting area. Unless otherwise stated, hunt durations start at a minimum of two full days and increase based on the number and type of trophies sought. If you take your trophy within the first three days, you can take any remaining time to seek other species or partake in one of our non-hunting experiences.
Trophy Fees
If the trophy scores exceed the guide’s visual assessment, the client will be charged the value of the visual assessment as agreed. If the score is lower than the guide’s visual assessment as agreed, the charge will be adjusted downward. Game meats remain the client’s property and can be processed as required at additional expense to the client. Any remaining usable game meat will otherwise be fully utilized.
What’s Excluded
International or domestic flights unless otherwise detailed in your Outfitter’s itinerary. Taxidermist fees, export documentation, crating, and shipping of your trophy(s). Taxes and levies on exporting of trophies. Personal travel and/or medical insurance. Accommodation and meals before or after the hunt unless otherwise detailed as part of your itinerary. Discretionary purchases, tips, and gratuities.
Tips & Gratuities
Tipping is not an integral part of New Zealand culture; however, it has become the norm for our hunting industry in the case of exemplary service and results. As a guide tips for guides usually start around $100 per day per hunter; for our chef and assistants, around $50 per day per hunter. We suggest bringing some US currency in cash for tips.
Currency & Taxes
All prices quoted in $US include 15% New Zealand Goods and Services Tax (GST) where applicable. All booked and reserved days will be billed, including arrival and departure days, considering the number of nights stayed, as per your itinerary.
Risk Management
There are risks involved in trophy hunting. Although every precaution is taken to ensure the safety and comfort of our guests, our guests undertake all activities at their risk, and no liability is accepted or implied by the owners and staff of the lodge. By paying a deposit on a booked hunt, a client accepts that any inherent risks remain their responsibility. The Outfitter accepts no responsibility or liability for delays, losses, accidents, illness, death, or damage before, during, or after the hunt. We strongly advise clients to take out comprehensive personal travel and medical insurance.
New Zealand Arrivals
A valid, current passport is required for entry into New Zealand. A visa may also be required. Check with your travel agent, the New Zealand consulate, or your airline carrier office in your country for details of your requirements. The Outfitter can make these inquiries on your behalf, pending the supplied information. Before travel, ensure that you obtain suitable travel and medical insurance. Importing firearms into New Zealand is straightforward; however, clients must ensure they have valid and current firearms permit from their country of origin. A visitor’s firearms permit will be required and must be applied for one month before arrival. A small fee will be payable to NZ customs.
Please ensure all gear is new, thoroughly clean, and completely free from organic material. Again, the team at High Peak is happy to advise should you have any questions. On behalf of the Guild Family and the Outfitter’s Team, they wish you all the best in your hunting endeavors and look forward to you joining us one day soon.
