Hunting Trip Information

Hunting trip donations are for four hunters and are valid for the seasons depicted by Charity Safaris. Packages are not photo safaris and cannot be exchanged for one though the group may add one at an additional cost at some destinations. Observers cannot take the place of a hunter. However, observers can join the trip for an additional fee.

Trophy Fee Deposits

A trophy fee deposit is required to set your hunting trip reservation. Once Charity Safaris receive the deposit, the outfitter will block your dates. Since space is limited on all dates, this deposit assures the outfitter that you will arrive on the dates you choose. Your trophy fee deposit is applied 100% towards your trophy fee bill at the end of the hunt. Trophy fee deposits are as follows.

  • New Zealand – $2,000 per hunter
  • South Africa – $1,500 per hunter
  • Argentina – $1,500 per hunter

Secondary Deposit

A secondary deposit is due one year before arrival. It is paid directly to the outfitter and will be applied 100% towards your trophy fee bill at the end of the hunt. Make sure to pay a second deposit to avoid losing your hunting dates.

All hunt deposits will be moved to new dates if a reschedule* or replacement hunter exists. Deposits cannot be applied to other hunters if a group in the original hunter is a no-show. Deposits are not refundable if a hunter cancels without rescheduling. Charity Safaris recommends binding trip cancelation insurance to protect deposits.

South Africa – $1,000 | Credit Card or Bank Wire

Argentina – $1,000 | ACH or Bank Wire (No Credit Cards)

New Zealand – $1500 | Credit Card or Bank Wire

* See Reschedule Policy below.

Auction winners must reserve their hunt dates within 90 days of winning a package.
Hunter deposits and non-hunter fees are required to confirm hunting trip reservations and are not refundable or assignable to other hunters or non-hunters in your group.  A hunter or non-hunter that doesn’t show up on arrival day loses their deposits and fees.  Therefore, we strongly recommend that you purchase trip cancellation insurance.  All trophy fee deposits are applied 100% to your trophy fee bill at the end of your hunting trip.  The remaining incurred trophy fees are due on the last day of the hunt.

Animal Harvest Minimums

Hunters must harvest a minimum number of animals on all charity auction hunts.
  • New Zealand: Minimum trophy fee spend is $6,500.00.
  • South Africa: Three (3) animals of your choice per the South Africa trophy fee sheet.
  • Argentina: Two (2) animals of your choice per the Argentina trophy fee price sheet.

Hunters who do not conform to this requirement can be charged a supplemental fee.

Consignment Hunts

Our standard no cost to charity hunts in Argentina, New Zealand and South Africa may not be switched to any Charity Safaris hunts that have a minimum bid.

Rescheduling Fees

Many things can happen between when you book your hunt and when you arrive. Remember that most hunts get booked twelve (12) to twenty-four (24) months in advance. When a reservation gets canceled or rescheduled with less than 12 months’ notice, the outfitter usually can’t rebook those dates, loses that potential income, and ends up with expenses they can’t recoup.

Hunting guides get scheduled twelve months in advance, and the outfitter pays them whether the hunter shows up or not. This is how the outfitter can retain the best guides in his area for your hunt of a lifetime.

If you reschedule a hunt in New Zealand with less than 12 months notice, the outfitter requires each hunter to pay a 50% deposit on the minimum harvest of $6500, which equates to $3,250. This fee and your trophy fee deposit are applied 100% to your trophy fee bill at the end of the newly rescheduled hunt.

Suppose you reschedule a hunt in Argentina or South Africa. In that case, the outfitter requires each hunter to pay an additional $500 trophy fee deposit on hunters rescheduled with 12 months or more notice and $1,000 with hunts rescheduled with less than 12 months’ notice. This fee and your trophy fee deposit are applied 100% to your trophy fee bill at the end of the newly rescheduled hunt.

If you cancel your hunting trip and do not intend to reschedule it for a future season, all trophy fee deposits and non-hunter fees are forfeited. Charity Safaris recommends purchasing and binding hunting trip insurance with your travel agent or online.

You can buy insurance for about 6-9% of the cost of the trophy fee deposit and non-hunting fees, airfare, etc.

Trip Cancellation & Refunds

A hunter, non-hunter, or group who cancels their hunting trip for any reason is not entitled to a refund. All deposits for both hunters and non-hunters are non-refundable for any reason. Hunters may reschedule their trips instead of cancellation per the Rescheduling section of this Disclaimer. Contact Charity Safaris or your travel agent for information on trip cancellation insurance or visit

Liability Waiver

Each hunter and the non-hunting observer will be required to sign a liability waiver. Due to the fluid nature of the international hunting industry, Charity Safaris reserves the right to revise our program at any time without prior notice. Revisions may include hunts sold at auction, where we subsequently determine that the featured outfitter(s) no longer meet our performance standards. In those cases, an alternate hunting trip of equal or higher value will replace the previous trip as deemed appropriate to ensure a quality hunt for your members.

Your auction hunt is transferrable.

Charity donation hunts are transferable to a friend or family member within the 90-day redemption period. Additionally, you may add additional hunters at promotional prices and, in some cases, at no additional charge (please inquire).
