This trip is for 2023, 2024, or 2025 Argentina hunting seasons.

Red Stag Hunting Argentina

Hunt tens of thousands of acres of prime Argentine ranchlands and farmland for up to 10 plus species of Big Game animals.

Hunting in Argentina can be done with a rifle, bow, or crossbow.  Hunting is done mainly by spot and stalk, but we can accommodate most hunters when spot and stock are not an option.  The gaucho guides are experienced bow hunters, so bring your archery equipment.  We recommend bow hunters book an extra 1-2 days, depending on how many animals are on their trophy list.

A typical day will begin with a full breakfast, a trip into the field to hunt, a relaxing lunch back at the lodge, a siesta, and another afternoon big-game hunting experience.  The day is completed with cocktails, wine, appetizers, and dinner with courses inspired by the local Argentine culture with fresh venison, chicken, beef, and vegetables and local desserts such as Crème caramel and Dulce de leche.

The winning bidder is responsible for the cost of all trophy fees.  There is a two-animal minimum harvest.

Argentina Hunting Seasons

Argentina’s big game hunting season runs from late February through July.  Therefore, the antlered game such as red stag and fallow deer should be out of velvet by the end of February through the first couple days of March.  The Axis deer drop their antlers randomly, but they can usually be hunted during the primary Fall/Winter season and the secondary Spring Season.

The red stag roar, also known as the rut, usually starts around the 15th of March and goes through the first ten days of April.  May is a pleasant time to hunt, and June and July are cooler with the possibility of some rain.

Hunting in Argentina during their spring is considered the low season.  The weather is fantastic, and the hunting is excellent.  You can hunt all the Fall and Winter species except for the red and fallow stag.  The stag usually drops its antlers at the end of July or the first week in August.  Since the Axis deer don’t follow a schedule to drop their antlers, you may occasionally find a trophy axis deer during the spring season.

Available Species: Spring (September to November)

  • Water Buffalo
  • Blackbuck
  • Mouflon Sheep
  • Axis Deer
  • Jacobs 4-Horn Ram
  • Wild Boar

Argentina Red Stag Hunting Prices

The trophy fees for the red stag at Chischaca are priced according to Safari Club International (SCI) scores.  Nine scoring levels start with a score up to 312 SCI and range upwards to a vast 500 SCI.

Management stags are also available at significantly discounted prices.  These are usually animals of opportunity spotted while hunting trophy red stag.

There is some free-range red stag on the larger ranch sections, but they are only hunted during the roar.  After the roar, they spread out, and hunting them is very difficult on the large blocks of the ranch.  Please inquire about the current trophy fee price sheet for all species.

Argentina Dove & Pigeon Hunting

Argentina is world-renowned for its dove hunting.  The temperate climate allows the dove to breed 4-6 times a year in farmland areas rich with grain crops, water, and trees to roost and nest.  Some lodges boast hunters can shoot 1,000 to 3,000 shotshells per day, more than most shoulders can handle.

While the San Luis province of Argentina isn’t as famous as Cordoba, the dove and pigeon hunting can be just as good.  If you want to add a few extra days to your big game hunt, we can arrange some Argentina dove hunting at a fine estancia just a few hours’ drive from Chischaca.  Please inquire about the additional cost of this add-on wing shooting adventure.

Accommodations in San Luis

Enjoy your four-night stay in a luxury estancia in double rooms (one queen or two double beds) and an ensuite bathroom.  Savor local-inspired gourmet meals, superb Argentine wine, and local beer in the main dining area.  Then, relax in the living room and share stories about your successful day of hunting.  The estancia has a pool, a sauna, and a pool and poker room.

Non-hunting Observer activities

Argentina and Buenos Aires are great places to bring your family or spouse.  We recommend you arrive in Argentina 1-2 days before your hunting trip to take in some shopping and dining in the Recoleta district of Buenos Aires.  Take in a dinner-tango show and shop for fine leather goods in the quaint shops of Recoleta.

The available observer activities at Chischaca lodge are as follows.

  • Spa Days and Massages at the lodge
  • Yoga sessions
  • Horseback riding
  • Polo lessons and lunch at the polo club
  • Cooking lessons with Lodge Chef
  • Touristic tour through San Luis city
